Having a Journal custom made to order is a fairly simple process (for you anyway). Now most people have a very good idea what they want in the first place. Others have an idea or inspiration they want to portray in book form without a clear idea, or concept. Obviously the time involved in designing these books is case by case. After the design process is completed most books take around four + weeks to complete. Designs that are more complicated, or involve concepts that we have not previously used will take longer. This is a ball park time scale and meant only as a rough guide. We would of course keep customers informed of any development regarding their journal, so they would know what is happening and when they are likely to receive it/them. It is very important to us that any customer walks away happy, and it is a pleasant experience for all involved.

Customers wanting an idea very similar, for example they want the feature shrunk or moved, It will cost slightly more for the extra time it will takes to design. Please bear in mind that just shrinking a wing for example, the whole thing has to be redrawn and redesigned which takes time (and as they say time is money). We are not talking a huge increase just enough to cover the cost of our time. Enquiries welcome.

What is the process involved.

To have a Journal made to order contact us via e-mail at Contact@fromtheshadows.co.uk and we will send you a downloadable order form or if you prefer we can discuss the design by e-mail.

1/ If you have a design or idea that you can draw and email us to get us started. It does not have to be a master piece just a quick doodle, with description of what you have in mind. Its not us being lazy it’s just that a picture paints a thousand words etc...

Or send us a full description of what you want, and the look you want to achieve. We will then take your ideas and do a few doodle sketches giving you a few ideas. These will also be very quick sketches with a brief description to give you some ideas. Do not expect a beautifully drawn picture at this stage. There is no point for us spending ages drawing one picture when there is a possibility we are going down the wrong track. Please bear in mind the clearer description you give us the quicker and easier this part is done.

2/ Once the basics are sorted and we have a good idea the look you are going for. We will do you a final sketch, and work out the total price. If then this is approved we go on to the final stage.

3/ Then we should be ready to get on with creating your journal. At this stage we will ask you for a non refundable deposit of 1/3 of the total cost. Then a few weeks later, after full payment, your uniquely designed Journal/ Book of Shadows will arrive at your door.
